The way the world perceives the stigma of ‘Methadone’
Methadone also known as Symoron, Dolophine, Amidone, Methadose, Physeptone, Heptadon, Phy and many other slang terms on the street…. such as medi and jungle juice.
It is a synthetic 'opioid.' It is used medically as an alalgesic and maintenance anti-addictive for use in patients with opioid dependency. (SUCH AS BROKEN PEOPLE WHO USED DRUGS TO TAKE AWAY THE INNER PAIN AND TORMENT)
It was developed in Germany in 1937.the scientists were working for I.G Farbenindustrie AG at the Farbwereke Hoechst who were looking for a synthetic opioid that could be created with readily available precursors, to solve Germany's opium shortage problem.
On September, 1941 (Bockmuhl and Ehrhart, 1949)
After the war, all the German patents, trade names and research records were requisitioned (which means 'formally ordered or commanded') and expropriated (Which means to take for public use) by the Allies.
Although chemically unlike morphine or heroine, methadone also acts on the opioid receptors and thus produces many of the same effects. Methadone is also used in managing 'CHRONIC PAIN' owing to its long duration of action and very low cost. Methadone was originally used in the war when the soldiers were sent out to battle. Methadone was introduced into the United States in 1947 by Eli Lilly and company.
Methadone is useful in the treatment of opioid dependence. It has cross-tolerance with other opioids including heroine and morphine and a long duration of effect. Oral doses of methadone can stabilise patients by mitigating opiod withdrawal syndrome. Higher doses of methadone can block the euphoric effects of heroine, morphine and similar drugs. As a result, properly dosed methadone patients can reduce or stop altogether their use of these substances.
Methadone is approved in different indications in different countries. It's an analgesic and approved for the treatment of opioid (SUCH AS HEROIN) opioid dependence. It would not reduce of drugs such as cocain, methamphetamine or alcohol. (Methadone can be a lethal cocktail with alcohol and/or diazepam (it could actually kill you!) in some drug rehabilitation centres when a patient goes in to take there daily medication, if they have the smell of alcohol on their breath they will use a breathalyzer to keep patients safe. If they are over the limit on the breathalyzer machine, then they won't allow them to have their methadone. That's in London drug teams and should really be in every drug rehabilitation programs around the world.
Methadone has also been shown to be an analgesic efficacy against naturopathic pain in progress.
Adverse methadone effects of methadone include:
- Increased sweating
- Chronic fatigue (sleepiness and exhaustion)
- Constricted pupils
- Low blood pressure
- Cardiac arrhythmia
- Weight gain
- SUDDEN DEATH
- Stomach pains
- Dry mouth
- Difficulties urinating
- Swelling of the hands feet and legs
- Mood changes
- Blurred vision
- Skin rash
- Runny nose
- Severe itching
- Aches and pains, often in the joints and or legs
- Elevated pain sesivitivity
- Elevated blood pressure
- Reduced breathing (may be fatal between two to four hours)
- Suicidal ideation
- Susceptibility to cravings
- Reduced breathing (may be fatal between two to four hours)
- Spontaneous orgasm
- Prolonged insomnia
- Auditory hallucinations
- Visual hallucinations
- Increased perception of odours (olfaction), real or imagined
- Marked decrease in sex drive
- Panic disorder
Withdrawal symptoms have shown to be up to twice as severe as anyone on morphine or heroine and the doses are much more prolonged. Methadone withdrawal symptoms can last for several weeks or even months. Someone who may be on 100mg of methadone for maybe one year It could take 18 to 24 months to gradually reduce for a safe detox,
At high maintenance doses sudden stopping can result in withdrawal symptoms described 'as the worst withdrawal imaginable!' in some cases it could kill a person. These withdrawals would last over month/s.

I wanted to write about the way the world perceives methadone and explain that it is absolutely appalling the way people are treated especially in places like the hospital. I know so many people who are on methadone that don't hurt people or steal or even take heroine. Two very dear friends of mine who are Christian and spiritual people. One friend had pancreatitis and was in immense physical torture and was given morphine to help cope with the pain whilst in hospital with this illness. Of course they suddenly stopped the medication when he left the hospital thus leaving him with withdrawals as well as the pancreatitis! So therefore he tried this so called miracle cure at the time called "heroine". He was left with an addiction that he couldn't bare and that is how he helped ease the pain thus having to get help because of the financial problem that he couldn't fund anymore. He then went to his doctor and was put on methadone for his stomach pain! He is a very creative spiritual man that never hurts anyone and would never dream of doing or even think of anything illegal whatsoever! He is a very rare and beautiful person with a giving heart full of true soulful compassion. The other man is also a kind giving man who again helps so many broken people, even his own children and the doctors at accident and emergency treated him like he was scum. He has a disorder so painful that only the blue methadone which is 10 times stronger than the green methadone helps. I have seen this man smoke a cigarette and smelt the smell of burning flesh. His friend had to make him a cigarette holder to avoid further accidents. This man has a two hour gap until he loses consciousness. He has had many falls and unfortunate accidents in his kitchen that have resulted in him being rushed into accident and emergency where he is treated like scum because he is on methadone. His doctor had to write him a letter to show other doctors so that they know that he is on this medication to help with pain.
As I have explained earlier in my writings, methadone is also used to keep people off the heroin. A lot of these people work and are good people and would never try to scam the system and yet they all have one thing in common 'society treats them unfairly and harshly' because of there ignorance.
If methadone is a painkiller, what about inner pain? Rape, child abuse, domestic violence and abuse! Bullying! Women and children that are kidnapped and sold to the sex trade? I watched the world news and child abuse is as rife as drug abuse. The list of things that I myself have experienced and many others is endless! What about wars? Street gang wars and war across the world.
Even hidden corruption in the police force, which I find very sad indeed. Heroin use with a needle is a form of self harm. It is no different to cutting ones arms for relief.
Unfortunately there is more money to be made by keeping people On medication instead of dealing with the source of the problem.
Which I also find very sad. When people do quick detox programs they are thrown back into society with absolutely no after care or form of hope, to keep them clean and off the drugs.
How do you explain or deal with severe mental illness through horrific past life experiences. Having key workers who have done 13 years of work with people, who have helped people through a long way. Then having government cuts that mean changing everything, including having strangers who know nothing about people's past lives, thus undoing 13 years of good work! Individuals who will have to start their stories again and again with someone who doesn't even know them, undoing all the good work that has been done! These people's lives are more complicated than you could possibly ever imagine. One client alone has had things such as, child abuse, rape, seen murders and who has lost at least 20 beautiful people who either committed suicide or had sudden unexplained deaths. This woman had cancer and severe mental illness through the horrific inner scars that haunther beyond repair. They say that time heals, however I can't help but feel that time shows you how to put on a new face for a new day.
A woman who had suffered domestic violence; so badly that you couldn't even recognise her! Bones that were broken and through fear of being murdered if she got help, she was too afraid to even get the bones reset, thus having to put up with the pain and having to look in the mirror at bent limbs. As a child she was a war child and had to lay under her bed at the age of only 5 years old, so that the bullets wouldn't go into her and her family. Her family were evacuated back to England. Her father was a soldier and an amazing man. She would scream and scream and literally wet herself with fear. Even when she was taken to a fireworks display this child would again scream as though she was back in Cyprus in the war. To this day a simple firework display is a trigger of horrific memories of the war.
She has been bullied and sold beyond repair. Will she ever live a normal life again? Only God knows? There is far too much to even begin to write it all down in this article on how the world wrongly judges people who have used heroin or methadone as an inner painkiller. This woman alone is now a recluse with bipolar and post traumatic stress disorder and multiple personalities which is common in abuse cases. A horrific almost unbelievable story but 1000 percent true.
Yes she used heroin to self harm (with the needle to inject) and blot out her memories. She has had three serious suicide attempts, which she nearly succeeded in taking her life. The last attempt was only a few months ago where she tried to hang herself and she now has a scar on her head where she lost consciousness and the metal bar broke! She woke in a pool of blood with someone banging on her door frantically, as they heard her body smash to the floor. She does not steal or harm 'anyone' but herself and yet she is tarred with the same brush as people who steal, bully and harm others to feed their drug habits.
There are many, many addicts who hold down 9 to 5 jobs and you wouldn't even know that they even take drugs. Or are on methadone. I know that this is not what most of you want to hear however methadone takes away pain! Physical and inner pain!! So who are we to judge? Even in the bible in says:
proverbs chapter 31 verses 4 to 7
“It is not for kings, O Lemuel - not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, lest they drink and forget what the law decrees, and deprived all the oppressed of their rights. Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish, let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more!!”
Drink is as bad as heroin and methadone and yet it's sociably accepted. Even the bible shows a compassionate god who understands our pain! So therefore please find that place in your heart to at least try to understand and help each other through the pain we go through.
Come on world, open up your mind!
