The Peace House Education Trust was set up with the aim of breaking down the barriers that separate people in Coventry through educational activities.
We are situated close to the centre in a multi-cultural area and run a volunteer run bicycle renovation project where we sell renovated bicycles at affordable prices, in order to promote cycling and encourage members of our local community to learn new skills.
Our education projects tackle inequality through highlighting social issues and promote the involvement of ‘hard to reach groups’ in mainstream activities. We participate in the city’s annual Positive Images Diversity and Peace festivals through community arts.

Coventry Visually Impaired and Sighted Tandem Association (Coventry VISTA, for short) is located in the Earlsdon district of Coventry. It was formed in September 1993 by a group of Visually Impaired people, “Stokers”, who ride on the rear of the tandem, and Sighted adults, “Pilots”, who ride on the front. These people rode tandems in the first Coventry Tandem Team Marathon, which took place in July 1993, involving riding 12 laps of Coventry’s Inner Ring Road, the anti-clockwise section, which was closed for the occasion. These people enjoyed their experience so much that they wished to develop and share their interest in tandems with other Visually Impaired people.

Grapevine is a charity run in partnership with people with learning disabilities.
Projects Include:

  • All Means All: a project that offers support and guidance to young people from black or minority ethnic groups and their families.
  • Teenvine: a project which allows young disabled people aged 13-18 years to build levels of achievement and security, and learn in the ‘real world’ with disabled and non-disabled peers.
  • Drop In: Sessions where we meet you one-to-one. We help you get over problems, understand information and find out about other places you can get support.
  • Skill Up: Training sessions to work on confidence, independence, staying safe, positive mental health, benefits changes, ‘hate crime’ and anything else that's important to you.
  • Take Charge: Groups for people with a learning disability and autism or mental health issues. These groups are ‘user-led’ - we find out what's important to group members and then work on those things.
  • Get Connected: One-to-one support to get connected in the community. Each person can get support for up to six months.
  • Stronger Together: Two small community groups that meet each week. Both groups are about getting out and about, building friendships and networks.
